Light

Jan Willem paints with light, call it action painting but with light projection.

This idea originated during his graduation from the Utrecht School of the Arts (visual arts) in 2008. During that time he investigated a way to speed up his painting process based on projection with the help of computer programs; in other words, how he could paint a canvas without applying physical paint.

In the beginning they were simple color projections, but soon he discovered a way to 'paint' his paintings with light. Through experiments he discovered that the human body could also be the carrier of a projection, this idea was the basis for the concept that would later become LiGHT-UP.
